What is the difference between inside and outside dimensions?

Inside dimensions determine what fits. Outside dimensions matter for pallets, transport and storage. This simplified model adds twice the wall thickness per axis; actual carton constructions can differ.

Are retail boxes tilted?

The calculator considers upright retail boxes. If horizontal rotation is allowed, length and width can be swapped. Tilting onto a side is not checked.

Is a carton suggestion a finished packaging specification?

Suggestions use regular geometric packing patterns. Agree materials, closures, cushioning, manufacturing tolerances and stacking strength with your packaging supplier.
