Safety stock calculator

Plan a simple buffer or statistical safety stock.

Inputs

Use decimal comma or point without thousands separators. All quantities must use the same unit.

Enter zero explicitly as 0. Empty fields are not treated as zero.

Your result

Enter values or load an example, then calculate.

Formula & assumptions

Simple: maximum daily demand × maximum lead time − mean daily demand × mean lead time. Statistical: z × √(L × σd² + d² × σL²)

Simple method: conservative range heuristic without a promised service level. Statistical method: independent daily demand, stable means and independent demand and lead-time variation; normal approximation for lead-time demand. σ denotes standard deviation, not range. Continuous stock review; all times in days. Cycle service level describes cycles without shortage, not quantity fill rate. Intermittent demand or dependencies require another model.

Display values are rounded; calculations use no intermediate rounding. Adjust results for indivisible quantities, pack sizes and operational requirements.

Article planning · CSV, history & scenarios

Maintain a shared article dataset, calculate all articles and transfer it explicitly to another calculator. Data stays in this open page; no background saving.

1. Article data

periods contains quantities for equal-length periods in chronological order. Annual demand is a separate field and is not extrapolated automatically.

2. Model options

With a history, its mean and sample SD replace lead time and SD for the shared supply process.

Your article plan

Import CSV or create an article. Then complete model options and calculate all articles.
