ABC/XYZ analysis

Classify articles by annual consumption value and demand variability. Paste or upload CSV; all data stays in this session.

Articles & thresholds

Use comparable demand periods of equal length. Annual quantity and period totals are independent inputs and need not match.

Header: Artikel;Jahresmenge;Stueckwert;Periode1;Periode2;… (article;annual quantity;unit value;period 1;period 2;…). Use at least 2 periods. Semicolon, comma or tab; quote text fields and decimal commas when comma-separated. Use UTF-8. Keep the template’s column names unchanged.

How classes are assigned

Annual consumption value = annual quantity × unit value. Positive articles are sorted descending; ties keep input order. Classification uses cumulative value share before the article: below A threshold → A, below B threshold → B, otherwise C. The article crossing a threshold stays in the preceding class. A single dominant article becomes A.

CV = population standard deviation ÷ mean × 100. CV up to X threshold → X, up to Y threshold → Y, above → Z. Zero mean → no XYZ class; zero annual value → no ABC class. Thresholds are planning assumptions. All non-empty rows must be valid; invalid rows prevent the entire analysis. Leading zeros remain visible. CSV export prefixes text with an apostrophe to protect formula prefixes and leading zeros.
