Formula & assumptions

Average inventory value = (opening value + closing value) ÷ 2 · turnover = cost of goods sold ÷ average inventory value · holding duration = period days ÷ turnover · stock value = quantity × unit cost

Average inventory value: arithmetic mean of opening and closing values for the same period and valuation basis. Frequent snapshots are more accurate for variable stock. Turnover: cost of goods sold and average stock value must be in euros for the same articles and valuation method. Cost of goods sold is not revenue. Holding duration is a calculated average, not an age analysis. Enter days matching your analysis period. Capital tied up: quantity and unit cost refer to the same article; current stock value is not a time average.

Display values are rounded; calculations use no intermediate rounding. Adjust results for indivisible quantities, pack sizes and operational requirements.

1. Article data

periods contains quantities for equal-length periods in chronological order. Annual demand is a separate field and is not extrapolated automatically.

2. Model options
